The Original PUBG MOBILE, Now Lighter
Pre-registration for PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is now officially open. It brings the original Battle Royale experience in a much smaller package, launching this November.
Why PUBG Mobile LIGHT Exists
PUBG Mobile LIGHT is a lightweight version of PUBG Mobile, built for players who don't have much storage space on their phone, or who don't want downloading the game to eat up their mobile data. Instead of installing everything upfront, it gives you a much smaller package so you can get into a match without waiting on a large download or clearing out storage first.
This makes it a practical option for players on budget or older Android devices, in regions where mobile data is expensive, or anyone who simply wants a quicker way to install a full Battle Royale game without extra bloat.
Once installed, there is nothing extra to set up. You are dropped straight into Erangel and can start playing right away, with the rest of the game's content available to download later, only if and when you need it.
How Is This Different From the Old PUBG Mobile Lite?
Long-time players may remember PUBG Mobile Lite from a few years ago, a separate, cut-down app with a smaller map, fewer players per match and its own account. PUBG Mobile LIGHT is a different approach entirely.
Rather than being a stripped-down spin-off, LIGHT is meant to be the same core PUBG Mobile experience, just packaged as a smaller initial download. It uses your existing PUBG Mobile account, includes the same maps and modes once downloaded, and stays updated alongside the main game rather than being treated as a separate product.
Does It Change the Gameplay?
No. LIGHT only trims down the initial download. The core gameplay, content updates, account data and matchmaking all stay exactly the same as the main game.
Stays in Sync
Updated alongside PUBG MOBILE, so new content arrives for both versions together.
Download What You Need
The lobby starts minimal. Other maps, modes and events can be downloaded in-game whenever you want them.
One Shared Account
Log into either app with the same account. Friends, items and progress stay identical on both.
Play Together
Players on PUBG MOBILE and PUBG MOBILE LIGHT can team up and play in the same squad.
How Big Is the Download?
| Download Channel | System | Package Size |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play | Android | Less Than 1 GB |
| App Store | iOS | Less Than 2 GB |
Package size is set by the app store listing and can vary slightly between Android and iOS. It does not affect the actual gameplay experience.
PUBG MOBILE or PUBG MOBILE LIGHT?
Best if you want the full, all-in-one install and don't mind the larger download.
Best if you want to save storage and data, and jump into a match faster.

Getting Ready Before Launch
With pre-registration open and the closed beta test already running in select countries, there are a few simple things worth doing now so you are ready the moment PUBG Mobile LIGHT launches in November.
- Pre-register on the Google Play Store or App Store so the app installs automatically on release.
- Make sure your existing PUBG Mobile account is signed in and progress is saved, since it carries over directly.
- Keep notifications turned on for the app store listing to know the moment it goes live.
- Free up a small amount of storage. Even though the initial download is under 1 GB on Android, extra space helps for future updates.
